North Caldwell Real Estate As of the Spring of 2009, there are over 53 properties for sale in North Caldwell, more than half are priced over $700,000. Llewellyn Park Real Estate Llewellyn Park, West Orange Llewellyn Park boasts 175 homes on 425 acre community. Established in 1853, the Park was designed as the first romantically landscaped park and one of the first planned communities in America. Llewellyn Haskell, the founder of the Park and his chief architect Alexander Jackson Davis designed the streets as romantic architecture with no streets being formed as a straight line and no cul-de-sacs. The romantic landscape style is reminiscent of New York's Central Park, which includes winding paths, and rare and ornamental trees, shrubs and flowers. Llewelln Haskell purchased hundreds of acres and resold them to executives who could afford "Country Villas". Alexander Jackson Davis was one of America's most renown architects at the time, is known for the style of the Americana Revival Mansion. This style of house features grand front porches and parlor rooms on the first floor where summer wicker would be brought in from the porch and stored during the winter months. He was also known for his circular picture windows, which is evident in the Park today. Many of his fine architect styles can be still found in the Park today. There are prominent American architects who designed estates in the Park. These include Alexander Jackson Davis, Calvert Vaux, Charles McKim, Stanford White, and Robert A.M. Stern. Thomas Edison's, Glenmont is also part of the Park and is open for the public to view. Llewellyn Park is 14 miles from the Lincoln Tunnel for access to Manhatten, 5.5 miles from the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, 9 miles from the Short Hills Mall, and 5 miles from Newark International Airport. Commuter trains are located in neighboring towns of Orange, South Orange, and Montclair which connect to the PATH subway trains in Hoboken. There is also a direct line into Manhatten's Penn Station in these towns.
